Kayte Christensen played in the WNBA for 6 years until a back injury ended her playing career. Kayte graduated from the University of California Santa Barbara where she earned her degree in Classical Civilizations. While at UCSB, she was named the 2002 Big West Conference Player of the Year as well as the UCSB Female Student Athlete of the year and Big West Female Student Athlete of the Year. She was a 2 time Kodak Academic All-American
Kayte was drafted in the 3rd round of the 2002 WNBA draft by the Phoenix Mercury. She remained with the Mercury for five seasons becoming a fan favorite for her work ethic and energy on the court, frequently displayed by her willingness to dive after loose balls and draw offensive charges. In 2007, she signed a 2 year guaranteed contract with the Chicago Sky but with two weeks remaining in the 2007 season, she suffered the back injury that ended her professional playing career.
Kayte is currently with the Sacramento Kings in ever developing roles including, pre and post-game shows and sidelines reporting. Displaying her intelligence and knowledge of basketball, she is THE analyst on the Kings CSN Pre-game live show. With the Kings, she has also served as a radio game analyst. She has worked as a color analyst for ESPN covering women’s college basketball and for her former WNBA team, the Phoenix Mercury, on FSN Arizona.
